World Egg Day Celebrations by WPSA Pakistan

The World Poultry Science Association (WPSA) Pakistan Branch celebrated World Egg Day 2025 with great enthusiasm and nationwide participation across four major venues:

PMAS Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi – Organized by the Central Body of WPSA Pakistan
Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam – Organized by the WPSA South Zone
Superior University, Lahore – Organized by the WPSA North Zone (in collaboration with Noor Poultry)
Rawalpindi Gymkhana Club – Organized by Rose Eggs

These celebrations aimed to promote public awareness about the nutritional importance of eggs and their critical role in food and nutritional security for people of all ages. Each event brought together students, academia, and industry leaders under the shared mission of supporting Pakistan’s growing poultry sector.

World Egg Day Celebration at PMAS Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi

Among these, a grand event was held at PMAS Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi, under the gracious patronage of Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman, Vice Chancellor. The event was organized by the Central Body of WPSA Pakistan and witnessed participation from over 400 students representing DPS, TEVTA, various colleges, and the Arid Agriculture University, along with prominent dignitaries from the poultry industry.

The program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and Naat-e-Rasool (PBUH), followed by a welcome address by Dr. Zaib-ur-Rehman.

Address by the President WPSA Pakistan

The Guest of Honour, Mian Muhammad Sohaib Javaid, President of WPSA Pakistan Branch and CEO of Jadeed Group of Companies, delivered an inspiring keynote address. He emphasized the nutritional, economic, and social importance of eggs, calling them one of the most affordable and balanced sources of high-quality protein, essential vitamins, and minerals.

He further elaborated on the poultry industry’s commitment to education and research, through internships, collaborations, and academic partnerships. Mian Sohaib Javaid also commended the efforts of Arid Agriculture University and the Institute of Animal Sciences for their dedication to poultry education, awareness, and for nurturing future poultry professionals in Pakistan.

Chief Guests’ Remarks

The Chief Guests, Mian M. Aslam, CEO of Arslan Poultry, and Dr. Farhan Farooq, General Secretary WPSA Pakistan Branch / Director KK Chicks, addressed the audience and shared their valuable insights. They highlighted the vital role of eggs in health and nutrition, particularly for children and women, emphasizing that a healthy body leads to a healthy mind.

Both encouraged students and participants to make eggs a regular part of their diet and acknowledged the event’s success in spreading nutritional awareness and combating malnutrition across Pakistan.

Activities and Competitions

Mrs. Arjumand, Head of DPS Girls Campus, also addressed the gathering and expressed gratitude to the university for hosting such an educational and interactive event. Various engaging activities were held, including:

Egg-based dish making competitions
Egg painting contests
Awareness Walk from the DVM Building to the Main Auditorium

Cash prizes were awarded to winners in each category, and ten prizes were distributed among winners of the quiz competition.

All participants received caps and lunch boxes, followed by a delicious lunch served to all guests.

Vote of Thanks

Dr. Nasir Mukhtar presented the vote of thanks, appreciating the students, faculty, and poultry industry representatives for their participation and support. He highlighted that the event reflected excellent teamwork, enthusiasm, and collaboration between academia and industry under the platform of WPSA Pakistan. He further noted that such events play an essential role in educating the public on the nutritional and economic benefits of eggs and in strengthening ties between universities and the poultry sector.
