Introduction from the Secretary General, Ir Peter van Horne
Ir Peter van Horne (Secretary General WPSA) and Dr E.F. Guèye (WPSA-APN President & WPSA Vice-President) attended the Leadership Conference, co-organized by VIV Africa and WPSA, which was held on 1st October 2024 at the Kigali Convention Centre, Kigali, Rwanda. This major event, which was assembling an international line-up of experts and world leading speakers, offered a program tailored for Sub-Saharan Africa to about 100 participants. The key topics exploring the latest trends, challenges and opportunities in poultry value chains in Africa were thoroughly addressed.

The Japan Poultry Science Association (JPSA) will hold the 2025 Spring Meeting Online on Thursday, March 27, and Friday, March 28. The presentations will be scheduled from 9:00 to 17:00 (JST). Details about the meeting will be posted at https://jpn-psa.jp/en/meeting-information/. The JPSA welcomes broad participation worldwide.

Recent conferences: Proceedings and presentations
- Last October, the 36th edition of our International Poultry Seminar was held (in-person) at our facilities, with close to 300 attendees. The chosen topics were presented by experts from academia and private industry. See details at: https://amevea.org/2024/09/25/eventos-amevea-wpsa/.
- The Leadership Conference, co-organized by VIV Africa and WPSA, was held on 1st October 2024 in Kigali, Rwanda. With record numbers and industry engagement, VIV Africa 2024 highly appreciated WPSA contribution to the vibrant discussions and connections made throughout the Conference and Exhibition.

- The 36th Annual Australian Poultry Science Symposium will be held in Sydney on 10-12 February, 2025

- The 1st World Native Poultry Conference, with the theme ‘Fighting Poverty with Native Poultry’, will be held on 12 March 2025 at VIV Asia Bangkok Thailand, organized by the Small-Scale Family Poultry Farming (SSFPF) Working Group of the WPSA Asia-Pacific Federation and Pakistan Branch.

The next meeting of the UK branch of WPSA will be 12-13 March 2025, in Harrogate, UK. For more information, and to submit an abstract (deadline: 18th November 2024) please see their website.

The 13th European Symposium on Poultry Genetics, to be held October 8 -10, 2025 in Gdańsk (Poland), is organized by WG No. 3 (Breeding and Genetics) of the European Federation of WPSA and the Polish Branch of WPSA. The 3rd Pan-African Poultry Conference (PPC3), with the main theme ‘Resilience and Sustainability of Poultry Value Chains in Challenging Environments in Africa’, is scheduled to be held on 22-23 September 2025 at the Future Africa, University of Pretoria, Pretoria, South Africa.
