Message from Michèle Tixier-Boichard, President of WPSA

Dear WPSA members!

Just a reminder that our web site has been reorganised, let us know what you think about it !

Year 2025 has already seen two major events for WPSA and the poultry sector, with IPPE in Atlanta, where WPSA had a booth, and VIV Asia in Bangkok where I had the opportunity to meet representatives of several branches from the Asia Pacific Federation : Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Taiwan. It was a pleasure for me to realize the great motivations of these colleagues for poultry science and education in general, and WPSA in particular.

Coming back to the World Native Poultry Conference mentioned in the previous newsletter, I underline that small-scale family poultry farming contributes to 10 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of UN, in particular to reduce poverty and hunger. Thus, it is worthwhile investing in family poultry systems, in addition to highly productive industrial systems. A diversity of poultry farming systems is key to answer the needs of human societies around the world. WPSA can help its branches to develop programmes for SSFPF, such as training programmes to empower women for family poultry production. Do not hesitate to submit applications to the branch development programme https://wpsa.com/branch-development-proposal/

We had a successful start of our new programme to support PhD students, with 6 applications received and accepted up to now. Please check https://wpsa.com/phd-student-research-support-programme/

Do not forget the possibilities we offer to support participation of students, https://wpsa.com/travel-grant-wpsa/ willing to attend a WPSA event organised this year https://wpsa.com/calendar/.

Looking forward to meeting you.
