1. National WPSA Indonesia Seminar Highlights Innovation and Competitiveness in the Poultry Industry

Jakarta – May 6, 2026. The National Seminar of WPSA Indonesia was successfully held at NICE, PIK Jakarta-Indonesia, bringing together academics, researchers, and poultry industry practitioners in a collaborative scientific forum. The event served as a strategic platform to discuss innovation, precision technology, poultry nutrition, cold chain systems, and efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesia’s poultry industry.

The seminar was guided by moderators Prof. Ir. Indrawati Yudha Asmara, S.Pt., M.Si., Ph.D., and Dr. Ir. Endang Sujana, S.Pt., M.P., IPM.

Several inspiring presentations were delivered by prominent speakers. Dr. Wendry Setiyadi Putranto, S.Pt., M.Si., lecturer at Universitas Padjadjaran, presented “Cold Chain in Indonesia: Current Status and Future Direction.” His presentation discussed the current condition of Indonesia’s cold chain system and future directions for technology and logistics development to support sustainable food production.

Danung Nur Adli, S.Pt., M.Sc., M.Pt., lecturer at Universitas Brawijaya and Vice Secretary General of WPSA Indonesia, introduced “Real-Time Technology Services for Chickens (LENTERA) Integrated with Drones to Improve Broiler Performance.” He highlighted the application of artificial intelligence, visual-thermal monitoring, and drone integration in modern broiler farming systems.

Dr. Ir. Cecep Hidayat, S.Pt., M.Si., IPM., ASEAN.Eng, Principal Researcher at BRIN and Secretary General of WPSA Indonesia, presented “Precision Poultry Nutrition for Sustainable Poultry Production,” emphasizing nutrition efficiency, animal health, and industry sustainability.

Ir. Achmad Dawami, S.Pt., Chairman of GPPU, discussed strategies for strengthening the national poultry breeding industry to support food security and global competitiveness.

 

2. International Webinar 2026 Highlights Future Trends in Poultry Education, Employment, and Research

 

The Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Jambi, in collaboration with the World’s Poultry Science Association (WPSA) – Indonesian Branch, South Sumatra Regional Branch, successfully held the International Webinar 2026 with the theme “Trends for the Future of Poultry: Education, Employment, and Research.” The webinar was conducted online via Zoom Meeting on Monday, May 4, 2026, from 08:00 AM to 04:00 PM (UTC+7). The event brought together academics, researchers, professionals, and poultry industry stakeholders to discuss future opportunities and challenges in the global poultry sector.

The program opened with welcome speeches from Prof. Dr. Helmi, S.H., M.H., Rector of Universitas Jambi; Prof. Dr. Ir. Hj. Nurhayati, M.Sc.Agr., Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Jambi; and Dr. Maria Ulfah, S.Pt., M.Sc.Agr., President of WPSA Indonesian Branch.

Several distinguished invited speakers shared their expertise during the webinar, including Prof. Ir. Yusrizal, M.Sc., Ph.D., Dr. Vincent Guyonnet, Dr. Ir. Hary Suhada, S.Pt., M.P., IPU, and Muhammad Umar, DVM, M.Sc. The session was moderated by Ir. Wiwaha Anas S., M.Sc., Ph.D., lecturer at the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Jambi.

The webinar discussed the important role of education, employment development, and research innovation in supporting sustainable poultry production. It also emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between universities, research institutions, government, and industry to prepare future human resources and improve competitiveness in the poultry sector. Through this international forum, participants gained valuable insights into global poultry trends and strategies to strengthen the contribution of science and innovation to the future of the poultry industry.

 

3. Universitas Sulawesi Barat and WPSA Indonesia Sign Memorandum of Understanding

Majene, West Sulawesi . 29 April 2026. Universitas Sulawesi Barat and the World’s Poultry Science Association Indonesian Branch, known as WPSA Indonesia, officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen collaboration in education, research, community service, and human resource development.  The signing took place on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, involving Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdy, S.Si., M.Si., Rector of Universitas Sulawesi Barat, as the first party, and Dr. Maria Ulfah, S.Pt., M.Sc.Agr., President of WPSA Indonesia, as the second party Through this agreement, both parties committed to developing strategic cooperation aimed at improving the quality of human resources, advancing education and research, supporting community engagement, and implementing other activities related to the achievement of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. The cooperation will be followed up technically by the implementing institutions of both parties according to their respective functions, duties, and authorities. Further implementation may be arranged through specific cooperation agreements as an integral part of this Memorandum of Understanding. This MoU is valid for five years and may be renewed or extended based on mutual agreement. The partnership is expected to create stronger academic and professional synergy, particularly in supporting the development of poultry science, higher education, and community-based innovation in Indonesia.

4. WPSA Indonesia Participates in Incuba Forum Asia 2026

Tangerang, 28-30 April 2026. The board members and members of WPSA Indonesia participated in Incuba Forum Asia 2026, an international poultry incubation forum held at Trembesi Hotel, South Tangerang, Indonesia, on April 28–30, 2026. The event carried the spirit of “Bringing Together Asia’s Incubation Opinion Leaders” and served as an important platform for poultry professionals, hatchery experts, breeder specialists, veterinarians, managers, and industry executives from across Asia.

The participation of WPSA Indonesia in this forum reflected its commitment to strengthening knowledge exchange, professional networking, and collaboration in the poultry sector, particularly in incubation, hatchery management, welfare, sustainability, technology, and automation. The event featured technical sessions designed for industry leaders, including five main program blocks: Technology and Automation, Welfare and Sustainability, Session of Managers, Breeders, and Incubation and Chick Management.

Through this activity, WPSA Indonesia members gained valuable insights from more than 20 speakers and panel discussions involving international experts. Topics included Poultry 4.0, hatchery vaccination, in-ovo sexing, on-farm hatching, global poultry industry challenges, data-driven flock management, and practical strategies for improving incubation efficiency and chick quality.

The forum also created opportunities for WPSA Indonesia to engage with regional and global stakeholders, including poultry associations, technology providers, hatchery professionals, and industry organizations. By joining Incuba Forum Asia 2026, WPSA Indonesia reinforced its role in supporting the development of science-based poultry practices and encouraging innovation for a more competitive and sustainable poultry industry in Indonesia and Asia.
