African Poultry Network
General information
The re-enforced Constitution of the African Poultry Network of the World’s Poultry Science Association (WPSA-APN) was set up after thorough discussions among its members was approved by the WPSA Board on 16 December 2022, which has been enabling the WPSA-APN to be more effective and efficient in all its operations. Were established to steer the affairs of the WPSA-APN
- 4-member Steering Committee headed by a President, seconded by a Secretary, a Vice-Secretary and a Treasurer,
- 4-member Advisory Committee, and
- 6-member Honorary Champions.
WPSA-APN’s objectives are (i) to promote WPSA activities in Africa, (ii) to promote the spread and exchange of knowledge in the field of poultry science by the encouragement of research, education/training, extension, and technical service amongst African countries, (iii) to disseminate knowledge about all branches of poultry production and facilitate the exchange of scientific and technological information among people having an interest in poultry production, (iv) to stimulate Universities and research institutions to engage with the poultry value chains and farmers through the publication of research results that can be easily understood by rural farmers, i.e. pamphlets, technical reports, and bulletins, (v) to encourage and promote the formation of Working Groups to work on specific problems of common interest in African Poultry Production, (vi) to facilitate strategic partnership engagement between Africa and the rest of the world in developing appropriate tools/equipment for improving productivity and efficiency along poultry value chains, and (vii) to encourage the promotion of WPSA-APN Poultry Conferences and workshops and to assist in the promotion of World’s Poultry Congresses (WPCs).
