Incubation conditions affect embryo development. This presentation by special guest, Dr, Edgar Oviedo, will describe those effects in all aspects of live performance, health, and welfare. Temperature and oxygen concentrations seem to be the more critical incubation factors that have been evaluated; however, other incubator parameters will be discussed.
Dr. Edgar O. Oviedo-Rondón is a Professor and Extension Specialist in the Prestage Department of Poultry Science at North Carolina State University. He has experience in the poultry industry as a Veterinarian, Nutritionist, Extension Specialist, and Consultant in 25 countries. Dr. Oviedo’s responsibilities include extension and research in broiler, broiler breeder nutrition and management, incubation, and data analytics. His research activities in incubation are related to the effects of incubation conditions on the post-hatch performance, health, and welfare of birds.
