Andre was born in Weert in the Netherlands. He graduated as a Veterinarian from the University of Utrecht, before starting his career as a Veterinarian Practitioner for farm animals in 1983. In 1985 he became Poultry Veterinarian at the Governmental Poultry Institute Doorn (now GD Deventer). Two years later he moved to Poultry Specialist Practitioner, Consultant and Head of a private poultry laboratory with a focus on vertical transmissible diseases such as salmonellosis and ALV leucosis, where he worked for 12 years. In 1999, he was Poultry Veterinarian for Hybro b.v., where he was responsible for the entire bio-security programs and disease situation on Pure Line farms, GGPS and GPS farms with special attention to salmonellosis, ALV leucosis and avian influenza. After 10 years here, he joined Cobb Europe as a Poultry Veterinarian responsible for the Pure Line farms, GGPS and GPS hatcheries and GPS operation in the Netherlands. His customers include companies in the Middle East, Russia, Africa and Asia. His special programs have so far included restriction of the usage of antibiotics, first week mortality, multi drug resistance (ESBL-AmpC).
