Zehava Uni received her MSc and PhD in poultry immunogenetics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and conducted her post-doctoral research at Cornell Veterinary School. Currently, she is a Full Professor and served (2015-2019) as the Head of the Animal Science Department at the Hebrew University's Faculty of Agriculture, Israel. She has active research on the following aspects of poultry nutrition: Functional development of the chicken digestive system; In-ovo feeding; Nutritional status of embryos and hatchlings and methods for supporting their intestine, muscle and bone development; Specific nutrients and feed additives influencing the integrity and functional capability of the gut epithelium and other important organs. Along her career, she supervised over 35 MSc and PhD students, teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in the university, as well as special courses for poultry farmers and industry professionals in Israel, and many seminars to poultry industry scientists and professionals worldwide. She published over 150 peer-reviewed papers, reviews, book chapters and abstracts in international conferences (H-index 54) and appears as Number 1 in the list of authors in the 100 most cited papers published in Poultry Science 1945 to 2020. She has Fruitful research collaboration with academia and industry poultry researchers from the US, Brazil, Australia and several European countries. Served as an Associate Editor, Metabolism and Nutrition section, for Poultry Science Journal (2003-2007) and at World Poultry Science Journal (2016-2022). Member (since 2002) of board of the Israeli Poultry Science Branch (about 350 members). Member (since 2007) of the Scientific Committee of the European Poultry Nutrition group (WG2). Participated (since 2001) in World Poultry Congresses and European Poultry Conferences, as a speaker or session chair. One-term Vice-President, World Poultry Science Association (WPSA) (2016-2022).
