Venue: The International Convention and Exhibition Center, Bumi Serpong Damai (ICE-BSD), near Jakarta, Indonesia
After two years of delay due to the pandemic, the 7th World Waterfowl Conference will be hosted and organized by the Indonesian Branch of WPSA. We feel honored and proud to be hosting such an important event for the waterfowl community in particular, and poultry enthusiasts in general. This is one of the main events by the World’s Poultry Science Association, to be held every four years.
Waterfowl industry is relatively new in Indonesia and it is developing very rapidly in the last decade. There are ample opportunities for developing new innovations, business transactions, and culinary ideas based on the diversity of the Indonesian cultures, agro-ecological zones, and natural or biological resources. It is a great privilege for us to host such an important event, and it provides us with a forum to showcase our capacities and what we have to offer to the international waterfowl community. Throughout the past meetings, this conference has become a prestigious gathering of waterfowl specialists worldwide.
Waterfowl products are not substitutes but complimentary to chicken products, and the industry must have competitive advantages in a very competitive market. The theme of the conference is “Competitiveness, quality, and sustainability of waterfowl production”. The Conference aims to stimulate exchanges of the most up-to-date information on the rapidly changing faces of waterfowl. The 7th WWC also provides ideal and cordial settings to share experiences and exchange views, discussing the advancements and breakthroughs in the field of waterfowl. The program will consist of scientific forum, business forum, culinary bazaar, and trade exhibitions.
This forum will provide opportunities for scientists to exchange the most up-to-date scientific information to further advance the development of the waterfowl industry, from small-scale farming to large commercial operation worldwide. Discussions will cover topics ranging from genetics and breeding, nutrition, post-harvest, product processing, and markets. The program will consist of oral and poster presentations, in plenary sessions as well as in group discussions.
This forum is designed to provide a communication forum for business owners domestic and international, for making business contacts and possibly business deals. Companies with waterfowl-related products are given opportunities to deliver technical presentations to showcase their products, from farming equipment, production tools, to intermediate or final food processing machineries. It is considered an important part in the development of the waterfowl industry because it has not been developed as advanced as in the chicken industry, especially in the developing countries. This conference will provide opportunities for the scientific findings to meet with the business aspects of the industry.
Rows of food stalls will be provided for individuals involved in the waterfowl culinary fields, to display various food products. The downstream business is an important part in the development of the waterfowl industry, because consumers’ preferences are the ultimate goals of any production system. It also provides opportunities for domestic and international chefs to showcase their culinary skills. Cooking competition might be an ideal option for this forum.
The conference will be held at The International Convention and Exhibition Center, Bumi Serpong Damai (ICE-BSD), Tangerang (near Jakarta), Indonesia, 20-22 September 2023. The event is designed to coincide with ILDEX-Indonesia, an international livestock exhibition. There will be large exhibition halls with a lot of spaces for displays, and complete facilities for an international conference. Participants can benefit both from the conference and the exhibition in the same venue.
The venue is only about 45 minutes’ drive from the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, and transportation is easily available. Hotels and shopping malls are easily accessible in the area. Central Jakarta is only about 30-45 minutes depending on the traffic condition.
Optional field trips will be offered to participants and accompanying persons, with choices of technical visit or cultural adventure in the surrounding areas. Beautiful mountain scenery with hampering rice fields combined with cultural displays are abundantly available to pamper your visit to our tropical country.
