Avian Science Research Centre (ASRC), Ayr, UK

Staff at SRUC and ASRC (Avian Science Research Centre) are involved in teaching but also in providing an innovative research and development service for the poultry sector and government and an international consultancy service. This means that as a student at SRUC you are taught by a team of staff that will provide you with up-to-the-minute information and insight into the commercial world beyond the College environment. We believe that no other education institution can offer this combination of expertise and experience.

The courses outlined below can be studied on a full-time, part-time and distance learning basis and individual modules can be taken as part of CPD programme.

Undergraduate Courses in Poultry Production
SRUC offers the following undergraduate poultry programmes, which have been devised in conjunction with the poultry industry:

  • Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Poultry Production 1 year (Full-Time) or 2 years (by part-time on-campus or part-time online distance learning study).
  • Poultry Training courses and SVQ/NVQ Assessments in Poultry Production are also available from SAC.

Postgraduate Courses in Poultry Science
SRUC offers the following postgraduate qualifications validated by the University of Glasgow as part of a flexible distance learning programme specifically tailored to meet your needs:

Postgraduate Certificate Applied Poultry Science – awarded for completion of any 4 poultry modules from the list below.

Postgraduate Diploma Applied Poultry Science – awarded for completion of all modules from the list below.

MSc Applied Poultry Science – awarded for completion of all modules from the list below plus the successful completion of a Research Project and Dissertation.

Poultry Production Systems, Poultry Health & Hygiene, Advanced Nutrition, Housing & Environmental Issues for the Poultry Industry, Poultry Nutrition and Growth, Incubation & Hatchery Practice, Poultry Behaviour and Welfare, Experimental Design, Data Analysis and Interpretation, Management skills.
